Short answers to the places users most often get stuck in FitWow.

Goals and Calculations

How does FitWow set my calorie and macro targets?

FitWow uses your profile details such as age, height, weight, sex, activity level, and goal. It estimates resting metabolism with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, adjusts it for activity and your goal, then distributes macros with evidence-based ranges.

Which scientific sources does FitWow use?

Targets are based on widely used nutrition references, including Mifflin-St Jeor for resting metabolism, National Academies/AMDR ranges for macro balance, and modern protein-intake research such as Morton et al. FitWow is a tracking tool, not medical advice.

How can I change my calorie or macro targets?

Open the app and go to Settings > Set Goals. You can update your calorie target, macro split, activity level, goal weight, and whether exercise calories are added back to the day.

Why can similar meals show slightly different results?

AI meal analysis is an estimate. Angle, lighting, visible ingredients, portion size, sauce, cooking method, and wording can all change the result a little. You can always edit grams and ingredients before saving.

Meals

How do I add a meal?

You can add a meal with a photo, text, or voice. You can also use recent meals, favorites, and quick add when you already know the food or calories.

How can I update grams or portions?

Open the meal detail, tap the ingredient or food row, change the amount or grams, and save. If the whole plate estimate is off, adjust the overall portion or servings.

Can I correct ingredients after AI analysis?

Yes. In the meal detail you can edit, add, or remove foods before or after saving the meal. This is the best way to make repeated meals more accurate.

What should I do if analysis looks wrong?

Check the ingredient list, grams, and serving count first. If needed, edit the meal manually or re-enter it with a clearer photo or more specific text.

Can I save meals I eat often?

Yes. Save a meal as a favorite or use recent meals so you can log it again quickly without redoing the full analysis.

Water and Weight

How does water tracking work?

Use the water tracker on the home screen to add drinks during the day. The default quick add is designed for fast logging, and you can adjust the amount when needed.

Where can I change my water goal?

Go to Settings > Set Goals > Water Goal. Your new target is used in the daily water progress ring and reminders.

How can I track my weight?

Add weight entries from the progress or settings area. FitWow uses them to show your trend and keep your current and goal weight up to date.

Exercise and Integrations

How are exercise calories handled?

You can log exercise manually or sync activity through supported health integrations. If Add burned calories to goal is enabled, your daily calorie budget may increase.

Why do I see duplicate exercise or activity?

This usually happens when the same workout comes from more than one source, or when you log it manually and also sync it. Delete the duplicate and keep one primary activity source enabled.

Does Strava sync steps?

Strava is mainly for workouts. For steps, use Apple Health, Health Connect, Fitbit, or the step source available on your device.

Friends and Streaks

How do I add friends?

Open the Friends area, search for a friend or use an invite link, then follow each other when the request is accepted.

How do I start a friend streak?

Start or accept a streak invitation with a friend. The streak continues when both of you complete the daily streak condition inside the same day window.

Why did my friend streak not advance?

The most common reasons are time-zone differences, one person missing the daily condition, a late log after the day closed, or a connection/request that has not been accepted yet.

What is a Streak Freeze?

A Streak Freeze can protect an active streak for a missed day when it is available. It does not replace normal daily logging; it is only a backup.

Preferences, Fasting, and Subscription

Where do I set allergies or diet preferences?

Go to Settings and update your diet preferences, allergies, or restrictions. FitWow can use them for meal context and suggestions, but you should still verify foods for serious allergies.

How do I use meal feedback or symptoms?

After logging a meal, use the feedback area to note how you felt. This helps you notice patterns over time, but it is not a diagnosis.

How do fasting and reminders work?

Set your fasting schedule and notification preferences in the app settings. FitWow can remind you about meals, water, fasting windows, and streaks depending on what you enable.

How do I restore my subscription?

Use Restore Purchases in the subscription or settings area. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account that bought the subscription.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google. To cancel, open your App Store or Google Play subscriptions, find FitWow, and cancel the plan there.
